THE DESIGN PROCESS
The House Of L Designs team members are trained to be active listeners so that clients will be satisfied with our work from the very beginning. We believe that a crucial part of any design process is the initial design brainstorm between the client and the designer. We are here to listen to our clients wants and needs, and transform them into truly beautiful works of art.
CONSULTATION
Each project begins with an introduction and a face-to-face consultation with one of our expert designers. By meeting in the actual space, whether it be in your home (or our office in the case of a new build), we are able to understand your lifestyle, determine your needs, get a feel for your personal style, assess and measure your space, ascertain your budget, and discuss your dreams for the final outcome. After the consultation, we will draw up a contract specifying the complete scope of work and outlining pricing in the form of a flat fee. For smaller projects, such as selecting paint, an hourly fee would apply.
SPACE PLANNING
Our team at House of L Designs prides ourselves on space planning for rooms (or homes) and we consider this to be one of the cornerstones of our design philosophy. Clients should anticipate that this is the first and most critical component in the design process. We carefully consider how your space will be used so that the final design shares a common denominator with the rooms around it and offers the most ideal functionality possible. Detailed, scaled drawings will include a demo plan (for existing spaces being renovated), a rendered floor plan and rendered elevations for all cabinets, built-ins, fireplaces and ceiling millwork. We’ll also include other detailed specifications including nuances, like interior compartments of a drawer, that make a critical difference in overall performance and organization, and will alleviate some of the stress factors in your daily life.
SELECTIONS & PRESENTATION
Using the information from the consultation, the House of L team will select two comprehensive schemes with alternative combinations which can include (but are not limited to, depending on the room) cabinet style and finishes, plumbing, lighting, tile, wall and floor appointments, furniture, accessories and/or window treatments. The lead designer on your project will present each scheme on a storyboard which includes samples of all materials being suggested, a slide presentation showing the actual pieces and their accompanying dimensions and rendered drawings that correlate to the actual selections being presented. Our multi-faceted presentation method helps you to envision your new room. Your designer will walk through every detail of what we’ve created for you, listen to your input, address any of your questions and fine tune details so that the space is completely customized to you.
IMPLEMENTATION
The House of L Designs team coordinates and manages the complete design of the space(s), pricing that is cognizant of the client’s budget, proposing the final selected items, ordering of all items, receiving and inspection of all items to ensure that everything is to our standards, and coordination of the installations for every aspect of the project. Our organization helps minimize disruption to your life and while keeping you informed at every stage of the overall process. COMPLETION
The House of L Designs team does not consider a project complete until you, our client, are totally satisfied. Customers who have worked with us provide the strongest testimony to our quality of service.
